Thank you for your interest in Daughters of Heaven and our new production company, BrittaniaJones Productions, created by Brittania Nicol and Amanda Jones. We recently graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Hollywood and, as this profession, which we are excited to be starting, is not one that allows anyone to sit back and watch, we decided to become proactive in our own careers. We are now just months away from the opening of our first production, Daughters of Heaven by the acclaimed New Zealand playwright, Michelanne Forster.

Daughters of Heaven is the provocative play on which Peter Jackson’s Oscar nominated film, Heavenly Creatures, starring Kate Winslet, is based. This is a story of passion, obsession, friendship and malice inspired by the real life Parker/Hulme murder case of New Zealand in 1954.  Two teenaged girls, Pauline Parker and Juliet Hulme were convicted of the premeditated murder of Parker’s mother, when they bludgeoned her with a brick to the head 45 times.

Several months ago, we contacted the playwright, and Ms. Forster said she "would be delighted” if we put on a production of Daughters of Heaven. Shortly thereafter, we contacted her publisher in New Zealand and we bought the rights to her play, which opened in New Zealand in 1991. We were also pleasantly surprised to find that ours has the prestigious honor of premiering as the first professional production of Daughters of Heaven in the United States.

This is a brilliant play and, as good fortune would have it, an equally brilliant director and former teacher of ours at the Academy has signed on to direct us. Judith Bohannon has studied with acting pioneers, Uta Hagen, Jose Ferrer, and Michael Shurtleff, among others. We are honored to have her work with us on such a lofty production.

Such a lofty production, however, does require financial backing that two young actors fresh out of school cannot possibly provide on their own. Though every penny we have is going to this dream, without support from those we love, this will never become a reality.

We have done an incredible amount of research and have estimated our entire production to be at a cost of around $6500.00.

We will be renting a quaint 52-seat theatre in beautiful downtown Burbank for two shows a week for our six week run from March 21st through April 26th. The theatre alone will cost us approximately $4500.00. We will be advertising in local papers as well as sending out press releases to LAWeekly and other large papers in the area. We will be printing postcards, posters, and a professional Playbill. This is where we hope to make most of the money we require.

We are also in need of sponsors and donors. For the low price of $525.00, you could sponsor an entire show with credits and special thanks from us at the beginning of the show.

This is an incredible project and we promise to execute the entire production with absolute professionalism. Please support us and the arts.

Please contact us for a more precise breakdown of costs if you are interested in sponsorship and/or advertising.  You may also check the sponsors page on this website.  Donations of any amount are welcome and appreciated.  Please make checks payable to BrittaniaJones Productions.

Thank you so much for your future support and the support you have already given over the years. Please pass this information on if you think someone might be interested in our endeavor.

Yours ever and truly,

Amanda Jones and Brittania Nicol
